Divergent was the book that unblocked my post-summer reading block back in the beginning of June. It was staring beseechingly at me in the airport, and I let my frustration at not having finished four other books fade away and picked this one up.
I was engrossed at the beginning, because why wouldn’t a self proclaimed “tumblr person” relate to Tris who doesn’t fit into socially established cliques?
I quickly lost interest towards the middle as the book began to take a Hunger Games direction, where violence and brute force predominates. In the end, what kept me going was Four’s compelling character.
I have hopes for Insurgent despite not liking Divergent as much as I thought I would.
